CIC Partners with Innovation Entrepreneur

Winnipeg, Manitoba — The Composites Innovation Centre (CIC) has engaged Katherine Devine, Principal Consultant at Get the Market, as a strategic partner to identify opportunities for the CIC to deliver greater value to Canadian businesses and the manufacturing industry.

Devine is a certified New Product Development Professional, Leanstack Mentor and a proven entrepreneur. She founded and ran the successful market research firm kiSquared for 21 years, where she provided strategic market research services to OEMs like Motor Coach Industries and New Flyer Industries.

“Developing the right new product that is customer driven and solves a scalable marketplace problem is always satisfying,” says Devine. “It’s exciting to see the CIC embrace strategic innovation this way and committing to responding with the right technological solution to a business need.”

The CIC is collaboratively working with Devine to refine its business services, identify strategic partners and prioritize new markets for the organization to work with. CIC team members will participate in multiple learning sessions with Devine such as Identifying Marketplace Problems, Market Validation: the Why and When, Designing Voice of Customer Programs and The Science of Market Validation.

“It is a great opportunity for us,” says Doug McCartney, CIC’s President and CEO. “We are listening and responding to the business leaders in our community when they say there is a need to prioritize the adoption of new technology and strategic product development to keep businesses competitive,” says McCartney.

The CIC is focused on developing advanced manufacturing technologies to support industry and ensure a thriving economy in Manitoba and Canada. This partnership will help to better position the CIC to enable SMEs to take advantage of those manufacturing innovations.
