Work With Us

Thinking about working with the CIC on a project? Whether it’s design, testing, prototyping and process development or technical contacts and business knowledge you need, we can help. With our staff producing quality work in a timely manner and working with clients every step of the way, each project gets the attention it deserves.

CIC Connect

CIC Connect offers clients rapid quoting and contracting on projects with the CIC, resulting in quick turn-around times making it easier for clients to run more than one project over a single year. Members of the CIC Connect program have access to the services and expertise that we offer, including our facilities and the staff’s knowledge about the latest advances in composite technologies.

This program supports the Western Canadian composites industry by enabling industry to leverage our capabilities and services through cost shared agreements, allowing industry to maintain control of intellectual property while working collaboratively with different organizations.

Carbon Fibre Interest Group

The Carbon Fibre Interest Group (CFIG) is a Composites Innovation Centre initiative to bring together industry partners, product developers, researchers and material suppliers who are interested in using carbon fibre in their products.

Our Mission Is To:

  • Connect interested parties from all parts of the supply chain from material suppliers to product manufacturers
  • Introduce carbon fibre technologies – material, design, manufacturing, maintenance and repair – to interested product developers and manufacturers who have little to no experience working with carbon fibre composites
  • Communicate the latest carbon fibre technology developments to industry and facilitate the adoption of those technologies
  • Demonstrate the advantages of carbon fibre composites such as weight, functionality and cost-effectiveness, to industry
  • Facilitate the application of carbon fibre composites to create new product lines and opportunities for local industries in Western Canada

The CFIG is open to any organization interested in using carbon fibre composites, sharing innovative ideas or wanting to connect to a mutual interest counterpart. Any project that is developed through the Carbon Fibre Interest Group could leverage support from the Composites Innovation Centre, the Vehicle Technology Centre or the Composites Research Network.

Projects

  • Low-cost tooling for carbon fibre composites manufacturing
  • Carbon fibre pick-up arm feasibility study
  • Carbon fibre infusion

Call for Projects

The Carbon Fibre Interest Group is intended to create opportunities for product development and manufacturing. We are calling for projects that will:

  • Provide a case study for the evaluation and implementation of carbon fibre based composites into a product
  • Demonstrate the advantage of carbon fibre composites in weight, functionality and cost-effectiveness
  • Facilitate the application of carbon fibre composites to create new product lines and opportunities for local industries in Western Canada

Through the Carbon Fibre Interest Group, the CIC will support those who are willing to co-develop a project with the CIC and qualify for the CIC Connect program. The CIC may provide 25% to 50% funding support towards CIC labour.
